Dario Del Core — Bio

My passion for the world of military miniatures began at a very young age while growing up in Rome, Italy. My father had witnesses world war 2 first hand and was an avid modeler, focusing most of his attention on British, Italian and German aircrafts. Fascinated by the quality of the finished models I wanted to be involved as well and quickly found a stable spot next to his workbench every Saturday, for quite a few years, as I recall it.

My passion eventually steered towards WW2 figures and vehicles driven mostly be the fantastic box art being released by Airfix and Atlantic at the time. German Uniforms and equipment gradually became my favorite subjects. I was 13 years old in 1978 when, somewhat unexpectedly, my father passed away and the time quickly came when I had to put modeling aside to make room for more demanding aspects of life.

By the early early 1990s my life had settled down some and I re-discovered the beauty of the collections of the 1970s and the wonderful simple build of the Tamiya kits. The age of resin figures was also at a prestigious high with the Verlinden, Warriors and Kirin lines being at the forefront of the leading manufacturers and so there was no shortage of enthusiasm in the air.

This is when I met my very best friend in life Ken Schwartz (accomplished modeler and repeated best of show winner at model contests) who basically thought me everything I know today about model building and finishing. Meeting Ara and Fred was the icing on the cake for me and my overall ability to model, especially the making of ground work, further progressed because of them.

Above all it is the loving friendship of these three exquisite souls that I treasure most !
